"Suicide is no virtue. It is failure, surrender, desperation. Ride or die - a Knight will for ever choose to ride before they ever choose death. Death will not conquer a Knight til they collapse. The coward you speak of chose death. He gave up on riding. Our collapse was chosen. He decided our end. But we don't decide our end. We fight."

Biography

Swordbearer

As a child, Tristam had a normal life in Stromgarde, living with his mother and father who were both important figures on the city's council. His father was a military commander, and his mother was a diplomat. Tristam recalls little of the day that Stromgarde fell, being about nine years of age, only significantly grieving over his father's body unknowing of his mother's whereabouts.

Gavinrad the Dire had noticed smoke from the city's siege from faroff, and had rode out to aid it's citizens. He found only Tristam among a pile of dead humans and trolls, grieving over one body, and had taken him to safety in a nearby town.

There, Gavinrad had set him up in a room in a tavern. A year had passed until Gavinrad returned, as promised. Gavinrad, being now positioned in the south of the land, took Tristam with him, where they lived in the town of Lakeshire as local heroes and figures of much respect and importance. Tristam was shortly after named Gavinrad's squire, inspiring a strong faith in the Light and a sense of chivarly. They trained long into each day; except for sundays, when Tristam would travel to the church to pray and read from it's library.
